President Obama’s Healthcare Mistake: Bipartisanship

2009-01-14-obamaofficialfullAfter a summer of brutal town halls, lunatic TV/Radio hosts and angry protesters, it’s hard to say that President Obama’s health care reform effort is where he, or the millions of Americans supporting him, hoped it would be. With three bills, two from the Senate and one from the House, floating around, it looks like the final bill will bring little more than further tweaks to the system, not the broad and comprehensive reform that is desired.

Political Corruption – I Blame the American People

It’s hard to argue that our nations leaders always act in the best interest of the country. In fact, nearly every politicians decision can be explain as an attempt to get votes.

Rush's Republicans = Democrat's Dreams

Rush Limbaugh’s appearance at last weeks CPAC started a media war over who is the face of the Republican Party. Interestingly enough, it seems to have started a war within the Republican Party over who is the face of the Republican Party (More Here).

It seems that after the democrats started suggesting that Rush is the new face of the Republican Party, Micheal Steele, RNC Chairman, wasn’t too happy. In an interview with CNN Steele said, “Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh—his whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it’s incendiary. Yes, it’s ugly.”

Our Bonds of Fellowship? Red and Blue without enough Purple

In these unsettling times, Americans fail to take counsel as we once did in one another. No longer can we embrace our political differences as a source of strength, for the time of cooperation and deliberation has passed into the shadow of obscurity, and the flame of partisan conflagration. Americans everywhere clamor and cry that Congress is inefficient and ineffective; yet it was built by design to act as so. To sacrifice democratic debate for expediency’s sake, may lead to rash decisions; and hastiness could lead to unrest and decadence. Yet hope remains, for there are the few that wish to acknowledge the value of difference and disagreement, but at the same time embrace with open arms, compromise and fellowship.
